Known by many names; Sandy, Able Dog, Spad, the Douglas AD Skyraider was considered to have been the most versatile attack bomber ever built. Designed as an American single-seat attack aircraft the Skyraider was too late for WW II action but proved her worth from early 50s Korean War era thru wars end in Vietnam in the 70s. From shooting down Mig's, pilot rescue, interdiction front line strafing and bombing, "Abel Dog" got the job done. The Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career; it became a piston-powered, propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age. The model represents one of the "Sunday Punchers", VA-75 Carrier air group, USS Independence mid-1960s.
