This design evolved into the TA series and became the famous L-3 "Defender" liaison aircraft used in WWII. Our model is the first Lycoming powered aircraft produced on May 8, 1940.

When the civilian pilot training program was announced in 1939, Aeronca set to work designing a trainer-type aircraft to meet the preferred tandem seating arrangement and complete head-on with the famous Piper J-3 Cub. The result was the Tandem Trainer model T. This was the first Aeronca ever built with the tandem seating and four main fuselage longerons.Additional Information
