Quick Overview

The Fokker D.VIII was the final and most advanced design of World War I, first flown in 1918.. Allied pilots nicknamed it the Flying Razor, presumably because it resembled a cocked straight razor in flight  With a 110 HP rotary engine the D8 had a top speed of 127 mph and 20,000 ft. service ceiling, and 175 mile range. Armament was 2 Spandau Mg08 machine guns with synchronizer gear to fire through the prop arc. It would have been a formidable opponent had it not been so late in entering the war.
