When William Piper and C.G. Taylor broke up their partnership in 1935, Mr Taylor set out to design a new light plane that corrected several faults he had noticed in several previous models. He succeded so well in his new endeavor that today the Taylorcraft BC-12 still stands as an icon in the light plane field. A carefully contoured fuselage that cloistered two people side-by-side and narrowed behind them diminished the drag.
With the Continental A-65 engine, here was a light plane that was 25 mph faster than the competition with the same engine. Such efficiency is still remembered today. Our model reflects the same characteristics as the full-scale airplane and the designer has had spectacular results with this design.
