Dare Fokker DR1 Triplane (23.5" wingspan)
Quick Overview
DA-115Quick Overview
The Fokker Triplane isn’t the best of subjects for a scale free flight model – a huge amount of drag, a short nose and little room for any rubber. However…. It does make a fine flyer once sorted out and never fails to amass bystanders who wrongly believe that models with no dihedral, scale wing sections and no incidence, can’t fly.
Construction is very straight forward and any modeler with previous small free flight models to his name can tackle this one. A rubber powered plane but also suitable for KP02 Electric, 3 Channel R/C or beefed up suitable for 0.3 to 0.5 diesel or glow
Specifications
Wing Span: 23.5" Plane Length: 19" Wing Area: 220 sq. in.Details
This model has a very accurate outline, including scale wing sections and rigging angles. The Triplane can be flown indoors or outdoors in calm weather – it looks super in the air or skidding, flat turns…. A specialty, just like the real thing!
One of the most famous aircrafts of all time, immortalized by the likes of Voss and Richthofen. But its production run was limited to little more than 180 aircraft. Which, when compared to the thousands of Sopwiths produced gives an indicator as to the lasting effect this brilliant fighter had on those that encountered it.
