Quick Overview

A Pat Tritle Design. First flown in 1915, the fokker E-1 was a single gun, 80 hp fighter which soon proved to be underpowered. The E-II's and E-III's were fitted with 100 hp engines with much improved performance.

Specifications

Wing Span: 45" Plane Length: 33" Wing Area: 350 sq. in.

Details

The E-IV, with its 160 hp twin rotary engine and up to 3 machine guns was fast but, not as manageable due to the raw physical effort required to warp the wings at high speed. Overall the Eindecker was inferior to other fighters of its day and due to engines problems, few E-IV's were produced.
