Details

As I understand the Bombshell was a club project of the Buzzards club of Chicago. Joe Konefes, who is credited with the design, built his Buzzard Bombshell in 1940 and flew it in mass demonstration flights at the 1940 Nats and regional meets.  He set a Class C Open flight record with it at the 1940 Nats.  His first flight was 49 minutes, 40 seconds.  The official time for all three flights was over 58 minutes. The original model had a 72” wingspan. The BMJR 1/2A Texaco version has a 44” span and 330 sq. in. of area. For SAM competition 8oz. / sq. ft. minimum would be 18.33 oz. Our Texaco powered model came in RTF at 19.75 (including .5oz nose weight). Our “sport electric RC” came in RTF at 21.85 with Himaxx 2016-1220 motor and Talon 25amp Speed Control. Both have 3/850 LiPo, polyspan covering and dope finish.
